£5 GBP seems a bit expensive for Vista.
Perhaps when service pack 1 is released.

This is the real Amreican secret weapon against Iran and its Mullahs.
Wait until they install Microsoft Vista.
Very limited and selective sound and video drivers.
The Iranian economy willg grind to a halt.
The only trouble is that China will benefit from the computer hardware sales and not the American economy.

This is economic warfare against the United States. But why is Microsoft charging so much for that software. It 800 hundred dollars sounds a little steep for its program. And this will breed hackers to break DRM.

In 1984, the computer was $5000 and the OS cost $10.

In 2006, the computer is closer to $600, and the OS is closer to $600. One price plumeted, the other skyrocketed.

Why? The hardware is/ was a free market. The OS, essentially a monopoly.
This is terrible for Microsoft. It’s definitely hurting them in their sales and revenues. $8? I know in South American countries a pirated Windows copy sells for $1.
I am wondering about the Iranian internal act regarding hackers. Even thought the company is registered as a legal company, it doesn’t mean that they has the right to have a legal serial number of the OS.
What?! So expensive?! At my town only $3 plus bonus pack. But I only ’support’ the original version.
Yes, I agree with you WII...
Buy the original one and say NO to pirate version.
Do you really think this pirates thing can stop i think NO!!!
Great post - wherever you turn you can see pirated goods. I dont use it as I agree with you.

To the people complaining about pirated software. I lived in Argentina for 3 years, where a GOOD salary is around 700 dollars. When Microsoft then sells its crap there for 700 dollars!!!! its only normal that EVERYBODY there has illegal copies. Heck, I worked there for AMERICAN companies...and they ALL used nothing but illegal copies. How can you expect poor people to fork out an entire months salary to be able to use a computer? I ask you this: would an american pay 3000 dollars for Windows? Exactly!

it is a hard to come down on either side. perhaps to combat piracy, microsoft needs to create a regional price guide.
