Black Gold is dead, renewable energy too might not cater to the burgeoning demands of the commuters, who are increasing on a whopping speed. We don’t have enough space to cater to those speeding hybrids either. So, what’s the solution?...

New Orleans,
United States
Copenhagen lanes are an excellent idea. Many underutilized, existing, two-way streets could easily be converted to a one-way street with parking and a Copenhagen lane with minimal impact on auto traffic. For example, here in New Orleans, we have a waterway (known as a bayou) that stretches for several miles through the city. Along a mile or two of the bayou, there are 2-way roads on either side that see very little traffic. If the roadways on both sides were made one-way and the former lane was allocated for parking

... and a Copenhagen lane, cyclists would be able to get to/from an existing bike trail (Jeff Davis Trail) as well as one now under construction (Wisner Trail) and another that is being planned (the Lafitte Corridor Trail). Additionally, if the Jeff Davis Trail was extended via a Copenhagen lane, it could meet up with the 1500 mile long Mississippi River Trail. Exciting!

Yeah, of course. An eco-friendly move and it’s also an exercise and will decrease traffic too. This can be also done everyday. But those people that are Car Rave, those that can’t live without their car may be hard for them to do this, but trying won’t really harm you.
